1. Skill Building & Maintenance
We can help you explore effective techniques for building and improving executive functioning and academic skills, including planning and prioritization, time management, organization, studying, test-taking strategies, note-taking strategies, et cetera.
2. Accountability & Resource Navigation
We're available to support you as you take empowered action through co-working together on tasks that need to be completed, checking in to help you follow through, et cetera. We also assist in navigating campus resources and supports.
3. Positive Outlook & Growth Mindset
We can be some of the best cheerleaders for our undergraduate students! We aim to help you feel more confident, identify choices, solutions, & opportunities that you might not realize are available, and can help you challenge negative self-talk and beliefs.
I have questions...
... we have answers!
The first appointment is always a virtual meeting (unless it is a walk-in meeting).
For later meetings, you may decide to meet with your academic coach in person. This may mean that you will agree to meet at a specific location at the time of your appointment OR use a different link to schedule with your coach.
This depends on your situation and what type of support you are seeking from the academic coach.
Some students may need to see an academic coach consistently (weekly or biweekly) whereas other students may need less frequent meetings. You and your coach can decide what is right for you when you meet.
We typically host weekly walk-ins during the academic year in the main lounge on the first floor of the Campus Center. Check out the walk-in schedule here.
College is a unique experience and a wonderful opportunity for students to become more independent, discover who they are, explore academic and professional interests, and interact with a lot of new people. The Office of Academic Support (OAS) is here to help!
The Academic Coaches are here to support undergraduate students in feeling successful and empowered at Bryn Mawr and beyond through immersive programming and academic coaching. Generally, the work that we do with students will fall into one of these “buckets†of support: skill building and maintenance, accountability and resource navigation, and positive outlook and growth mindset.
Undergraduate students can seek support from the OAS through professional and paraprofessional academic coaching appointments as well as participate in the programs, workshops, and tabling events that are facilitated by our undergraduate-level and graduate-level peer academic coaches.
