What's happening at your internship? We would love to hear what kind of work you are doing!
This summer, I have had the pleasure of interning abroad in Vienna, Austria, with Impact Hub. Impact Hub consists of a global network with locations in over 100 cities across 60 countries. The Vienna location, where I work, mainly focuses on social innovation and aims to create a space to empower and connect entrepreneurs aligned with this mission. The team I have been interning with is focused on fostering a sense of community and a satisfying experience for members of our co-working space here at Impact Hub. Thus, the majority of the work I am doing involves assisting with the planning, management, and execution of events, as well as simply supporting day-to-day operations and general organization of the office space.

Why did you apply for this internship?
I applied for this internship through Bryn Mawr College's Career and Civic Engagement partnership with the Institute for the International Education of Students, or IES Abroad. I studied abroad with this organization the previous fall semester in Berlin, Germany, and I found the support and resources provided by their staff to be quite helpful throughout my experience, so I was happy to find a similar opportunity for a summer internship. As a German major, interning abroad seemed like a great way to expand my knowledge of the corporate world and gain an understanding of international workplace cultures.

What has been your favorite part of this internship?
My favorite part of this internship has been being a part of the event planning and management teams. For example, at the start of the internship, Impact Hub hosted its annual Impact Days conference, where investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and business leaders engaged in conversations focused on creating a more just and sustainable future. I really enjoyed being a part of this event not only because it took place at Vienna's gorgeous Hofburg Palace but also because it allowed me to attend various lectures and presentations that were especially relevant to my interest in health studies.

Through the Career and Civic Engagement Center Beyond Bryn Mawr Summer Internship Program, Bryn Mawr students pursue opportunities in fields such as nonprofits, government and law, health care, research, sciences, business, and the arts.
